Building materials are being gathered. Foundation is being laid out- see pictures below. Dolpa is a very remote region in Nepal. Donkeys are often used for ferrying rocks from distant places.

I thank you for your continuous support and praying for Nepal. On May 24, we visited at Yeti Plastic Industries Pvt. Ltd located in Nasikasthan-1, Bhaisepati, Kavre (www.yetiplastic.com). The purpose of this visit was to learn about the Yeti Plastic Industries and their product that we will be utilizing for our water purification project. We met with Ms. Puja Shrestha, who is the director of Yeti Plastic Industries. Ms. Shrestha stated they produce all kinds of supplies /equipment related to the water purification system, including pipe, plastics and water jar. She gave us the facility tour.
On May 25, I visited the Patan Hospital and met Dr. Gyan Kayasth, Chief of Internal Medicine and Mr. Prakash Thapa, Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Thapa stated they received an amount of $4000.00 from Himalayan Family Healthcare Project and he would like to thank us for our generous contribution to the Patan Hospital. Dr. Gyan Kayastha provided the hospital tour and explained the treatment process for the earthquake victims. Dr. Gyan Kayastha stated the Patan Hospital is providing 100% free treatment for the earthquake victims. I noticed the Patan Hospital is flooded with several injured patients including, broken arms, broken legs, head injuries etc. Some patients are receiving their treatment on the hallways and outside the hospital’s building. I observed there are tents being set up out side the hospital building to deliver patients services (I sent pics to Prakash via Viber). I also observed there are many patients who are suffering the PSTD like symptoms.
On May 26, our meeting started at 6:30 pm with six participants: 1). Devi States, USA-Board Chairman; 2). Mr. Dhorje Gurung, Nepal-Board Chairman; 3). Mr. Birendra Thapa, Nepal Army Pilot-Colonel; 4). Mrs. Shiela Upadhyay, Professor; 5). Dr. Bhairrab Kumar Hamal, M.D; 6). Ms. Anita Gurung, HFHCP-project assistant.
The purpose of the meeting was to report the findings of our site visit in Naubishe, Sindhupalchok district and to develop a strategic plan of response to help the residents of Naubishe due to the earthquake disaster. The report of our site visit included the slideshow of pictures and six minutes video. We discussed the rebuilding of physical structures of school building and health post with two rooms (Patient examination room and medications/supplies room). Retired Nepal Army, Major: Kamal Nepal was nominated and approved as a field coordinator for this specific project in Naubishe, Sindhupalchok. Major: Kamal Nepal will work under direction of Mr. Dhorje Gurung, Chairman of Nepal Board. This committee requested Major: Kamal Nepal to submit building design and estimated budget by June 6th. Our next meeting is scheduled on June 6 at 6 pm to discuss the building design and the cost.
On May 27, meeting with Dr. Gyan Kayastha, Nepal-Advisory Board; Mr. Dhorje Gurung, Chairman-Nepal Board; Ms. Anita Gurung, Nepal-Project Assistant & Devi States, Chairman-USA Board. We discussed about the health camp in Sindhupalchok District. Dr. Gyan Kayastha stated the Patan Hospital would provide the doctors for the health camp. We agreed to conduct health camp on June 12th and 13th. We also agreed Devi States and Anita Gurung will work with Dr. Gyan Kayastha to coordinate health camp. We also agreed to plan the following project at the same time:
1) Installation of water purification project-Start: June 12 to TBD-Lead: Dr. Bowen; Assistants: Gyan Gurung; Sonjog Thapa; & Harrish Chand
2) Start to rebuilding of School building and health post: Start: June 12-On going- Lead: Dhorje Gurung & Major: Kamal Nepal
3) Health Camp: Start: June 12 to June 13- Lead: Devi States, Dr. Gyan Kayastha, Anita Gurug
4) Post-earthquake needs assessment: Start: June 12-TBD-Lead: Devi States & Major: Kamal Nepal
5) Media ( TV and News Paper : Both in Nepali and English): Kamal Nepal and Ms. Rajan Shahi.
On May 29, Mr. Dhorje Gurung; Chairman of Nepal Board and I met with Ms. Nanu Nagarkoti Lama; President of Lions Club. Ms. Nanu Nagarkoti Lama requested this meeting. Ms. Lama stated the she would like to partner with Himalayan Family Healthcare Project to deliver any relief effort in Nepal. We agreed to partner with the Lions Club. However, we also agreed to get approval by USA-Board first before finalize our official partnership.
Spoke to Ms. Puja Shrestha, Director of Yeti Plastic Industries regarding water container, 12 V deep cycle battery and white PVC pipe requesting Dr. Bowen for the water purification project. Ms. Shrestha stated that they should have all the equipment that is requesting by Dr. Bowen. We agreed to meet on June 1st.
